LAKE PICOL AND BIVOUAC DAVIDE

“DEEPEST NATURALLY FORMED BASIN IN THE ITALIAN ALPS”

A popular hiking trail in the area is to Lake Picol. The lake is considered to be the deepest naturally formed basin in the Italian Alps, making it a real sight to behold. Near the lake, is the bivouac Davide, a mountain shelter commemorated to the late 'Davide Salvadori', a passionate hiker. Every year, the famous Sky Marathon 4 Luglio is held in memory of him, making the bivouac Davide and Lake Picol a well-visited hiking destination. To start your journey, it typically begins at the Sant'antonio valley, where you will walk past the Campovecchio and Val Brandet refuge, allowing you to start your ascent into the mountains. The further you hike, you will find yourself in pine forests and pastures, until you inevitably reach the lake after following the signs. By following this route, you can expect to reach up to 2000 metres in altitude. After visiting the lake, you can then proceed to the Torsoleto pass to locate the bivouac.

PIZ TRI

“ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR HIKING TRAILS IN VAL CAMONICA”

The climb to Piz Tri is one of the most popular hiking trails in Val Camonica. On the way, you will discover Alpine huts, animals and remnants of heritage. To start the hike, it's only a 20-minute drive from Corteno Golgi to Malonno, a nearby town in Brescia. As you make your way up to higher altitudes, you will find stunning views of coniferous forests and vast plateaux. As you inch closer to the goal, the iconic peak of the mountain will begin to appear in sight. From the peak, you will be able to see the beautiful views of the Adamello mountains and even the Valtellina Valley - and perhaps, a glimpse of the Bernina Railway. From Piz Tri, you might also decide to take a detour and visit the military outposts from the Great War.
