BIENNO

In the province of Brescia, just south of Corteno Golgi, you will find the medieval town of Bienno. Considered to be one of the most beautiful villages in Italy’, you will be astounded by the deep history embedded within the old cobbled streets and the traditional buildings lined across the town. Just walking through its lanes, you will be welcomed by picturesque courtyards, frescoed churches and shadowed alleyways. The town was renowned for its ‘iron’ industry, with many of its inhabitants prospering from the iron manufacturing trade. In the XVI century, the material was essential for the growth of the country; it was so prominent that a museum was dedicated to the tradition.

The influence of the medieval ages and the Renaissance era is evident as you take a stroll through its streets. You will find beautifully designed churches, statues, villas and buildings that date back to centuries.

MONTE ISOLA

Just an hour and a half away from Albergo Miramonti, you can overlook the largest lake island in Italy - Monte Isola. The name itself means ‘Mountain Island’, likely to be named after the large green mount that characterises it. You can visit Monte Isola by stopping over the town of Sulzano, where you can take a ferry to get there. It is filled with 15th to 17th-century churches while being adorned by the beautiful olive trees that flourish in the island. Thanks to its proximity to the lake and the Mediterranean climate, you can taste the most delicious cuisine full of fresh fish and fruits, showcasing the best of Lombardy Cuisine. One of the most interesting things about Monte Isola is that you’re not allowed to take vehicles into the island, making the primary mode of transport, walking, cycling or taking the bus services.
